KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Eddie Mannis, president of Knoxville-based Prestige Cleaners, was recently recognized by three organizations for his work with HonorAir Knoxville, an organization he founded to help veterans visit memorials built in their honor.

Mannis received a 2011 Service to Mankind award from Knoxville’s Downtown Sertoma Club, had a tribute dedicated to him by the East Tennessee Military Affairs Council, and was named PBS East Tennessee’s 2011 Person of The Year.

Prestige won the prize by gaining over 1,500 online votes in recognition of its exemplary business practices in employee development, community involvement, customer service and strategy.

SFS will provide consulting and training seminars on a variety of topics, including operational management, customer relations, route development, imaging and branding, and more.

HAYWARD, Calif. — Fabric Restoration Service Team (FRSTeam) recognized the recipients of its 2008 Licensee Awards at its annual Restoration Retreat conference in Sonoma, Calif.

FRSTeam by Crescent Restoration, a Tennessee store owned and managed by Russ Jacobs, won the FRSTeam Licensee Leader Award, FRSTeam’s highest honor. Brand Champion Awards went to Jacqui Schaefer of FRSTeam by Recovery Cleaners in Michigan and Mitchell Rogers of FRSTeam by Rogers in Florida.

ATHENS, Tenn. — Magnolia Cleaners in Athens, Tenn., is the latest operator to win positive press for providing free cleaning to the nation’s growing ranks of unemployed.

Magnolia launched its “Get Working” program last month, after the area’s unemployment rate hit 13.8%. Owner Michael Priest will clean up to $25 worth of business clothing per week free of charge so that customers can make a better impression in interviews, or about two men’s two-piece suits.
