CHICAGO — Piececounts nationwide decreased 22.9% in the second quarter, according to AmericanDrycleaner.com’s StatShot panel, a group of industry operators who contribute financial information anonymously for use at the site.

Operators in the West again led the decreases, with numbers of garments down nearly one-third (31.3%). Declines in overall sales didn’t keep pace with the lower piececounts, however, averaging 14.2% lower nationwide during the same three-month period.
