EWING, N.J. — In an update to our story on attempted fraud from May 7, 2010, Operator Reports Fraudulent Rug-Cleaning Scheme, Mike Waintraub of Captain Dry Clean, reports a similar encounter — this one involving comforters.
“The operator said the person on the other line owned a small hotel in Seattle and had purchased a small hotel in my state,” Waintraub says. “They had 100 king comforters they wanted to ship to me, wanted to know how much it would cost to clean them, and what credit cards I take.”
When asked, the alleged perpetrator gave the name Beth Perez. When pressed further for the name of her hotel and a phone number, the suspect hung up the phone.
